Scratch Night
Argyris Angeli & Simon Banos, David John Beesley, Lea Collet & Marios Stamatis
An evening of work-in-progress performances, that invited the audience to participate in the development of new work. A scratch night exists in the realm of failure, validating it as an essential part of reaching a goal. Lisa Le Feuvre explains that testing becomes a process for itself rather than finding a result. The term "process" in a scratch night allows artists freedom of interpretation, presenting different stages of a self-defined process. Audience feedback is crucial. The purpose of the scratch night is to juxtapose process and failure, allowing for constructive feedback. The audience observed and responded to unfinished work, guiding the artists' development. The audience, as the main protagonist, helped shape the performative work.
